Today saw our return to Port Sunlight and the Lady Lever Gallery that we visited with the tour last trip. Once again as seems to be our 'nana holiday' we were easily the youngest visiting the gallery today. Highlights of the gallery The Scapegoat - Maree favourite, The Annunciation - Cheryl's favourite and The Blessed Damozel these were all as exciting as the first time and a lot of time was spent looking at them. We then a visit to the embroidery that we hadn't been able to get near last time. The renovation that was being undertaken on the last visit had been finished and this houses a display of Chinese porcelain and a section on Napoleon both of these are very bright and shiny and we felt didn't enhance the space. Even though it was a chilly overcast we walked up to Hillsborough memorial and then decided to visit the Port Sunlight Museum this was a little underwhelming but gave some interesting social history into the town. Part of the entry was the ability to visit one of the houses to see what life would have been like. For the time and remembering they were built for workers they were fairly well appointed and spacious. As time was marching on we headed to Albert Dock to the Maritime Muesum this is an extensive building giving an indepth look at various aspects of sea life both in peace and war time. There was an interesting section on gay sailors - it was illegal until 1999!!!! A small display on the Lusitania was the main reason for the visit - we may have gone through this backwards but as we knew the ship sunk it didn't really make a difference. We then walked to the beatles story thinking this is where the bronze statue would be.  . it is not and we failed to find it oh well nevermind. We rounded the day off passing The Cavern Club and visiting a few shops. Tomorrow is Speke Hall!!!!
